- Ghassān Shibārū (?, Lebanon) – 2022 (‘2022’, 2009). This novel is one of the first Arabic-language novels to deal with the serious issue of climate change. It is set in 2022, at the time writing a future world similar to ours, in which the effects of Co2 pollution, climate change, and water scarcity have led to the eventual destruction of humanity. Its hero is a Lebanese climate activist struggling to convince the industrial world to, among others, switch over to green energy.
- Ganzeer (Muḥammad Fahmy, ?, Egypt) – The Solar Grid (2016-). In this graphic series, the writer portrays the world after a biblical flood through which he targets the powerful writ responsible for complicity in environmental destruction, including businesspeople who profit from it. Notably, he depicts a heroic whistle-blower who exposes the corrupt interests that control the world’s diminishing resources (reference) (also in in S: Speculative Fiction: Science Fiction: Science Fiction Series).
